Welcome! Today we will give an introduction to the course, followed by an overview of bioacoustics, basic/applied science and active research areas in bioacoustics.

You will be able to discuss how we define science and compare and contrast basic and applied science.

You will be able to define bioacoustics, identify different components of the field and describe a few examples of active research areas.
